The Nuclear Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre helps British manufacturers in winning work in the nuclear sector. Their new facility is located at Infinity Park in Derby alongside the global headquarters of Rolls-Royce.
 

Their requirements

Nuclear AMRC needed help to facilitate moving into new premises at the iHub in Derby. Whilst the premises they were moving into were new and had already been fitted with a standard electrical supply and accessories, due to the nature and scale of the work Nuclear AMRC complete an upgrade was required in supply and facilities to meet their requirements.

Services provided

Manor Electrical Services provided a complete solution from consulting on Nuclear AMRC’s requirements and surveying the location, through to installation, testing and certification.

This involved:-

• Consultation on requirements
• Surveying the premises
• Exploratory work and trials on ducting
• Drawing through of cables through underground ducting from the substation
• Fitting a range of industrial sockets from 16 amp through to 63 amp three phase & neutral (TPN)
• Use of high level access equipment
• Facilitation of transfer of power at the substation
• Testing, verification & certification to BS7671 standards

The uprated supplies involved:-

• New 800amp switchgear in the substation
• Re-fitting of original switchgear to the rest of the building
• Dedicated 400amp sub main supply through to the new workshop
